The BlackBerry Q10 and Z10 duo have the tough job of making the company relevant again. As we found out in our BlackBerry Z10 review, it’s very good phone overall, but merely mediocre as far as its battery performance is concerned.
We’ll see how the BlackBerry Q10 matches its brother in our full-blown review, which is coming very soon, but for now, we’ll concentrate on its battery endurance.
The BlackBerry Q10 gets off to a good start with a 2,100mAh battery (300mAh more than the Z10), which along with the smaller screen promises far superior performance.
That’s why the first test came . The Q10 went from a full charge of battery to nothing in the whopping 20 hours flat. This result brings it awfully close to the Motorola RAZR MAXX and its monstrous 3300mAh battery. The Q10′s talk time result is also better than that of the RAZR i, though, which packs a 2000mAh battery and Intel’s Atom Z2460 platform.

Next on our battery test list is web browsing. Here, the BlackBerry 10 OS has a lot to brag for as it features one of the most advanced mobile web browsers around with one of the best HTML5 skills and full Flash support. Despite the Q10′s display being of the Super AMOLED variety, it’s rather small at 3.1 inches giving it an edge in this particular test.
As a result, the BlackBerry Q10 managed 8 hours and 42 minutes of internet browsing, which interestingly, puts it close to the top yet again right below the Samsung Galaxy Note II. Keep in mind that our web tests don’t include Flash, so all phones are on equal footing.

Lastly, it’s time for the video test component of our battery endurance test. The small display of the BlackBerry Q10 isnt best suited for video entertainment, much less with its 1:1 aspect. Still it’s a Super AMOLED, which means you’ll enjoy the movies you watch due to the vibrant and saturated colors. The Q10 hit 10% battery after 11 hours and 15 minutes meaning you’ll be well covered for those long cross-continent business trips.

The BlackBerry Q10 gets and endurance rating of 56 hours, meaning that’s how long you can go between charges if you do an hour each of calling, browsing and watching videos per day. That should be well enough for two days of heavy usage before you need to plug BlackBerry’s latest QWERTY effort into a wall charger.
